Enrolment at South Yarra Primary School

South Yarra Primary School is a Victorian State Government Primary School located at 601 Punt Road, South Yarra.

South Yarra Primary School, due to space limitations, has a designated and approved Department of Education (DE) Neighbourhood Boundary zone which is extremely close to the school. No enrolments are accepted outside the zone.

By law, primary schools are required to request and record information on the immunisation status of students prior to enrolment. Parents or guardians must provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation status certificate to the school regardless of whether the child is or is not immunised.

Documents produced by GPs or other immunisation providers are no longer acceptable as school entry immunisation status certificates. AIR immunisations are obtained through your Medicare online account accessed through myGov or call 1800 653 809.

Process for Enrolment:

If your child/ren are starting Prep in 2024, you will be able to enrol your child at South Yarra Primary School from the start of Term 2, 2023 (Monday 24 April 2023).

The Department of Education has released a new statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.

The new timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child/ren into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including South Yarra Primary School.

The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2024. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2023 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2024 school year.

You can find information and resources about the new timeline, including factsheets and the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers’, at Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).

Please visit the ‘Starting School page’ on the Victorian government website which advises families when and how to enrol their child/ren into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government school. The new timeline seeks to make the enrolment process simpler, clearer and fairer for families.

School tours are only offered to those within the school zone, tours will be held at 9:30 am Tuesday 2 May 2023 and Tuesday 16 May 2023.

Enrolment applications for Prep 2024 should be submitted by Friday 28 July 2023.
